Take Five With Lindsay Huebler

By TKXS Author on March 21, 2019

TKXS corporate controller Lindsay Huebler joined the company in 2018.

1. Describe your role at TKXS
As corporate controller, I am the gatekeeper for all things financial here at TKXS, including financial statements, reporting, the budget process, payroll and benefits.

2. What drew you to this business?
Being a corporate controller was always my career goal. But when I had the role at another company, what I really wanted was a mentor who could help me visualize what the next level looked like and help guide me there.  A mutual contact set up an interview for me with Thad Armbruster (TKXS' president & COO) a little over a year ago, and I walked away from the interview knowing I really wanted to be a part of this company. I like Thad's vision. All the owners are passionate about the company and where it is going. I had never worked for a company so focused on its mission and values. You could just sit in the lobby and witness all five values in action. I wanted to work for a company like this–a company I could believe in.

3. What advice do you wish you’d been given early in your career?
Focus on the positive. I grew up a Tarheel fan and of course, read Roy Williams’ autobiography, Hard Work. He describes a championship game against Georgetown in the 80s. An assistant coach at the time, Williams describes how, as UNC was down a point with seconds to go, head coach Dean Smith tells the team, “We’ve got them exactly where we want them.” In times of stress, I think of that. I think, “I’ve got to focus on the win. This is what I’ve always wanted to do. This is the challenge. I just need to train my brain to believe.”

4. What do you want people to know about TKXS?
This is an incredible place to work. I’ve had the privilege of hiring people from other companies – and they all agree that TKXS is 180 degrees away from any other place they’ve worked – an incredibly caring environment that is also very successful from a business standpoint. I’ve never seen anything like it.

5. If we had a billboard outside our offices, what would it say?
We lead by example. We live our values here, every day.
