Take Five with Stefanie Mallasch

Stefanie Mallasch (rhymes with “smallish”), the new executive assistant and office coordinator for our Raleigh office, joined TKXS in November, having done all her interviews virtually, including one from her car! Fun facts: She majored in Chinese and minored in Korean in college, and later taught English in South Korea for two years. When she’s not managing the Raleigh office, Stefanie enjoys musical theater, knitting, and “all things geeky.”

1.    What is your role at TKXS?

I assist executives in the Raleigh office with calendar management and other tasks, pitch in as needed with HR, and manage office tasks, such as planning events and ordering supplies. I’m also on the People Culture Committee. It certainly is different to be doing all of this remotely. There’s a lot of Slack messaging and Zoom calls going on!

2.    What drew you to this business?

Two things. One, I have an ag background. I come from a long line of farmers (my last name actually means “farmer” in German) and I most recently worked at a tractor company. Two, I love tech and appreciate that it can be a solution for people in agriculture.

3.    What advice do you wish you’d been given early in your career?

I wish I’d been advised early on to speak my mind more. I think young women are kind of conditioned not to create conflict. Speaking my mind (or, as we say at TKXS, Speaking Out) was something I had to learn and learn to be comfortable with.

4.    What do you want people to know about TKXS?

I would want people to know – even while working remotely –how great the culture is here. TKXS is very people-oriented. We care about employees and clients. Just because we can’t be face to face right now doesn’t change how we treat each other.

5.  If we had a billboard outside our offices, what would it say?

For now, it would say, Coming back soon!

And once we’re all back in the office, it would say, Welcome home.
